Free Credits to Celebrate Launch of Integrated Communication Service for Travelers

GlobalRoam today announced the release of GlobalCredit, a one account to manage multiple roaming services concept. With this single prepaid account, travelers can enjoy Internet, IDD and mobile roaming services, without the high costs.

To celebrate the launch, GlobalRoam will give travelers 20% additional free credits when they purchase GlobalCredit during the month of August to mid September.

The services are catered to the traveling business clientele, who need constant contact with business associates whilst abroad, but are discontent with the associated high fees. This service fills a gap in an industry that has been dominated by major telecommunications companies' alliances. International Telecommunications Users Group (INTUG, 2002) reported several reasons for the high roaming charges, including:

• International mobile roaming charges were not cost-oriented.
• Home telecommunications operators include additional charges before billing their customers.
• The obscure nature and difficulty for customers to understand and calculate tariff information.
• Present arrangements between operators make it hard for users to complain as the home operator can blame the foreign operator.
